The Hollow Ground concept overlays an undulating terrain over a suburban density, creating an original neighborhood typology for seashore vacation homes. Located between the sand dunes and the golf mounds, the new terrain adapts to the organic topography of its neighbors. This artificial land form conceals built elements, blurring the distinction between inhabited spaces and landscape. The sloped landscape guides the motion of cars and people. The paths of least resistance become the prevalent flows through the terrain. The undulating topography allows for discrete front access for some of the lots. When moving between the mounds there are few clues of inhabitation, there are no land divisions. The mounds act as buffers for the exterior living spaces of the houses creating external private courts of various scales.
